Who Is the King & Ballow Law Firm?

Bloggers are digging into and researching backgrounds not just of JL Kirk, but of the King & Ballow Corporate Law Firm, both of whom are targeting the First Amendment rights of a local blogger who related first-hand experiences, even as she has now secured her own legal defense from the Media Bloggers Association.

According to a Phoenix blogger, Mike, here are some of King & Ballow's clients:
BellSouth Mobility........................Thomas Nelson, Inc
American Airlines.........................Roadway Express
Star Transportation.......................Gaylord Entertainment
The Oak Ridge Boys........................MCA Music
SESA......................................American Color
Stanley Jones Corp........................CFW Construction Company
Ingram Industries.........................Dollar General
Link Electric & Safety Control Company....National HealthCorp
Vanderbilt University.....................Tribune Company
Capital Cities/ABC........................Knight-Ridder, Inc.,
MediaNews Group...........................Lee Enterprises, Inc.,
the Chicago Tribune.......................the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
the Denver Post...........................the San Diego Union-Tribune
the Kansas City Star......................the Tulsa World
the Gillett Group.........................Post-Newsweek Stations
the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters
If King & Ballow ends up sullying its own standing by targeting the local blogger of Just Another Pretty Farce, will there be blow back on the reputations of some of these organizations, especially the local ones like Vanderbilt?

Mike points out the irony of King & Ballow representing media companies and yet threatening the First Amendment rights of a local blogger, but he also documents King & Ballow's reputation of alleged union busting and purported conspiring to evade labor laws. They don't look like angels at either King & Ballow or JL Kirk.

    Excellent post and points.

Well, I'm not sure about "huge" blowback, but I'm certainly taking note of who these clients are for future reference should this lawsuit threat ridiculousness continue.

It certainly won't pain me to not shop at the Dollar General down the street (closest store to home for me) or fly any airline BUT American, and I would certainly make those decisions based on this event.

I'd hazard a guess there's several thousand bloggers and 'Net active folks who would do the same, and who knows what might be even bigger beyond that.

  2. This is a really thought provoking post. I think the reason why so many bloggers reacted is that K-Co really is representative of all of us.
If she can be targeted, we all can be.
I think we've all read her initial post and subsequent ones and there is nothing there other than her opinion.
The woman that posted from JL Kirk did more damage to her own company by her lack of professionalism than anything K-Co said.
With that said, we all need to keep our eye on this and watch it.

  3. Google doesn't have an option to skip blogs. Blogs today give a worldwide platform to opinions of the sane and insane. This is the first time in history that a hyper-local opinion can be broadcasted and read world wide. Blogs will become more dangerous in the future.. Helping those that really need to be heard. But it will be left up to the person searching the web to decide if the information in the blog is true, the opinion of a pissed off blog master, or a complete fabrication.
