Republican Lipstick Strategy Had No Traction

Pew's results indicate that the public perception of ruffled Republican feathers about Barack Obama's "lipstick on a pig" comment was that they were full of sound and fury, signifying nothing:

Among the public who had heard a lot or little about the remark, a solid majority (66%) believe that Obama intended it as a joke about McCain's polices. Very few (21%) say that he intended to insult Palin.
