Take Your Pick of Worst Republican Impression of Patriotism

I'm always amused at GOP attempts at patriotism, which are usually cheap, overdramatized, and require no sacrifices of the flag-wavers. There are two embarrassing moments at this week's Republican neck tie party (by the way, they really strung up the nooses last night with Mayor "9/11, 9/11, 9/11!" and Sarah Palin) that stand out like sore thumbs:
  1. The Pledge of Allegiance video intended to evoke real emotions in the audience used paid actors instead of real soldiers for a staged military funeral.
  2. In their zeal to look überAmerican, the GOP publicly recognized two active duty Navy SEALs, which constitutes a violation of strict rules against military personnel attending political events or appearing to endorse candidates.
"My home, sweet ... DOH!"
